The Symposium of expo system of the whole province was held in Luzhou on April 28th.Centered on implementation of Some Opinions of the State Council on Promoting the Reform and Development of Exhibition Industry which was released not long before and major strategic deployment of People’s Government of Sichuan Province and Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China,in-depth exchange and discussion were carried out to strengthen cooperation in exhibition industry,accelerate transition and upgrade of the industry and make a leap from a large expo province into a strong one.

Zheng Li,Director of Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs,Jiang Fuyi,and Secretary of Luzhou Municipal Party committee attended the symposium and made speeches.Zeng Tong,Member of the Standing Committee of Luzhou and Secretary of the Luzhou Municipal Party Committee also made presentation on the symposium.Yang Qinglong,Liu Ying,deputy directors of Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs made introduction of current situation.The symposium was hosted by Wang Mian,Deputy Director of Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs.

Nearly 50 representatives from expo bureaus and competent authorities from 21 cities(prefectures),including Chengdu,Mianyang,Luzhou,Neijiang and Aba and six counties,cities and districts including Dujiangyan,Wenjiang District and Wenchuan presented the symposium and delivered speeches.

Promote leaping development with multiple measures and optimize industrial pattern in comprehensive manner

Zheng Li expressed that the expo industry of our province has made giant steps over past over two decades and it has been developed into a large expo province.Faced by the new economic development trend,we are in critical stage to develop Sichuan from a large expo province into a strong one.

In next step,by following the spirits of Opinions of the State Council on Promoting the Reform and Development of Exhibition Industry,centering on strategic deployment for opening up and industrial development made by People’s Government of Sichuan Province and Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party,we need to make efforts in aspects of optimizing development pattern,changing development mode,strengthening international cooperation,cultivating market entities,building expo brand,optimizing market environments,intensifying promotion,reinforcing policy guarantee and strengthening market cooperation to develop new development paths,accelerate development of expo industry and further better service overall economic and social development.

To our knowledge,the expo industry of Sichuan Province will form a pattern with Western China International Fair based in China Western Expo City of Chengdu as lead with location of expo cities,brand expos,expo venues more optimized.In addition,we will vigorously develop new expo modes,promote integration of expo industry with other industries,promote the transition of government-oriented expos from government-sponsored to government-serviced,adhere to combination of“binging in”and“going out”,introduce international well-known expo brand and organize enterprises to attend expos abroad;step up marketed transition,cultivate market entities and optimize market environment.

To build expo brands,we will centered on strategic deployment of five high-end growing industries and five emerging service industries to organize Western Fair,China Western(Sichuan)Import Expo and International Investment Conference,the Third Sichuan Agricultural Fair and the Chengdu International Urban Modern Agricultural Expo,The 8th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair and spare due efforts to China Food&Drinks Fair,Motor Show,Furniture Expo,Technology Expo,Wine Fair,Logistics Fair,Tourism Fair,Pickle Expo and other municipal(prefecture)expos.

Besides the above efforts,the expo industry of our province is in fast transition to a social,market-oriented and more professional industry.It is announced on the symposium that Association of Conference and Expo Industry will be established and documents including Assessment System for Sichuan Brand Expo Projects are in validation process,and the expo industrial standard system will be further improved.

Focus on future development and actively discuss transition and upgrade

The exchange and discussion on the symposium was enthusiastic.Representatives talked freely on how to promote local and provincial expo development and transition by following the Opinions of the State Council and major strategic deployment of Sichuan Province and proposed their suggestions.

Chengdu representatives shared their experiences in terms of improving expo promotion mechanism,cultivating market entities,optimizing development environment,strengthening marketing,reinforcing expo thesis research and enhancing personnel capability in order to develop cooperation with brother cities and prefecture,share development opportunities and achieve win-win outcome.

The representatives from Mianyang proposed useful thinking and suggestions for design of expo roof,guiding cities and prefectures to characteristic expo,formulating expo setting up standard,establishing expo statistics system and they expect to learn experiences from other cities to make greater achievement in expo industry development.

Representatives from Luzhou introduced the expo development situation and stated they will fully devote into formulation of expo industry development planning,keep enhancing supporting service capability and reinforce promotion of expo.They will take China International Wine Fair and China(Luzhou)Southwest Commodity Expo and other brand expos as platform to further strength the leading role of expo industry in modern service industry.

Representatives from Neijiang expressed that after launch of Opinions of the State Council on Promoting the Reform and Development of Exhibition Industry in 2014,they will look for experts to formulate General Development Planning for Expo Development of Neijiang based on their urban and industrial development plan.

Leshan is promoting construction of the newly established venue for Sichuan International Tourism Trade Fair which covers an area of over 40,000 square meters and expected to be completed before July this year.At that time,the 2nd Sichuan International Tourism Trade Fair will be held there and the infrastructure and development environment for expo industry will be further improved.

By giving full play to its strength in cultural tourism,Aba prefecture will follow the thinking contemplated in the Opinions,build up an expo industrial system featured by advanced facilities,complete functions and concentrated brands to strengthen the expo economy of the prefecture and make greater contribution to construction of“Economic Demonstration Zone in Northwest Sichuan”.

Wenchuan will build annual conference bases and commercial activity base with business opened up to Chengdu even the whole province.They will make good use of their local resources and cultivate one or two influential ethnic brand expos and reinforce the brand image of Wenchuan.

Representatives from Deyang,Yibin,Ganzi,Ziyang,Meishan and other cities(prefectures)and counties(districts and cities)also delivered speeches and expressed that they will spare more efforts,take new initiatives to promote expo development based on their own characteristics to better serve economic and social development.
